>Dairugger is finally getting SOC treatment
I still like Voltron... as a franchise. I think I made it clear on twitter that I started disliking VLD after it's second season, which actually makes me kinda sad. I credit VLD for introducing me to an interesting franchise to which I got more into mecha and more importantly the act of collecting. I've spent... err thousands... on Voltron merchandising but that's only because I focused more on the older entries.
I started posting a bit more to my Voltron blog only because of the recent news of Dairugger getting a SOC. But then I remember how fixated on Voltron I was in 2017... and having that just be a memory now. I get hyperfixations where I only focus on a specific thing for a good amount of time, which is in itself a symptom of ASD. And I remember feeling this way when I was hyperfixated on Voltron looking back on YGO.
It's funny how I remember being an active watcher when the first season of Osomatsu-san was airing, but not being too active in the fandom. Then again that's usually how I roll, I don't get too active in fandoms when something is live, I kinda just passively watch it. And oh boy was the Osomatsu-san fandom something... But Voltron was when I had YGO-levels of fixation and I ended up getting the fastest burn out from it.
With YGO, it was a number of things namely the fact that the friend group I was in for years just started taking its toll on me. And seeing someone I used to love turn out to be a manipulative predator towards younger people in the zexal fandom only to get called out... man that shit really takes a lot from you. Voltron always had discourse. Maybe it's because I've never really been that into an actual active fandom, but damn is there so much bullshit going on. YGO had it's fair share of shitshow but it doesn't hold a candle to Voltron.
Anyway, I'm kinda writing a thing about Voltron Force....

Date: 2019-03-15 02:00 am (UTC)I agree YGO was never anywhere near this level of shitshow. Aside from a few Pupshippers being assholes (most of which I heard about long after the fact), I think the reason we never had this bullshit there because it was the mid-2000s and our slash pairings had a zero percent chance of becoming canon. Makes it easy to be civil on an even playing field.
I'm so sorry your friend went bonkers. It sucks when you find someone you like goes off the rails like that.
